Arsenal's Smith Rowe has been the focus of recent transfer rumors, with the midfielder reportedly set to join the Gunners' London rivals Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have spent over £300million this transfer window and they could buy Smith-Rowe before Friday's deadline. The general consensus at the club is that the Chelsea boss feels his side are still lacking some flair at the attacking end of the pitch, judging by their opening Premier League performances this season.

Burley's attention has turned to Smith Rowe, who has struggled to get first-team appearances at the Emirates Stadium of late. Chelsea's interest in the Gunners' youth academy graduate is high and Arsenal's willingness to sell him is not strong, but the current state of affairs has seen the England international's value drop considerably.

Smith Rowe was one of Arsenal's standout performers in the 2021/22 season and ended the season as the club's top scorer. However, he wasn't able to build on the momentum he had at the time and he underwent groin surgery at the end of 2022 which limited his playing opportunities.

Since the start of the year, his most league appearances have been 47 minutes at home to Bournemouth in March. Fabio Vieira is ranked above Smith Rowe, who has not featured in any of the three league games this season.

The 23-year-old has three years left on his current contract, meaning Arsenal won't be forced to sell him for a low price.
